PURPOSE: The Johnson County Genealogical Society was organized in 1984 to collect and preserve genealogical and historical information about the people of Johnson County. Its purpose is to further an interest in genealogy, to educate, and to share information in the process of researching and recording individual family histories.

MEETINGS: Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd Thursday of each month, except December, at The Dillon Depot located at 302 North Anglin Street, Cleburne, Texas 76031.  

MEMBERSHIP & DUES: Membership runs yearly from January 1 to December 31. Dues are $20.00 for an individual or $25.00 for a family. 

PUBLICATIONS: Finders Keepers, dedicated to preserving the historical records of Johnson County, is mailed quarterly to all members and to exchange societies.  

MATERIAL FOR PUBLICATION: The society solicits unpublished Johnson County related materials for Finders Keepers. Emphasis is placed on source materials such as: Bible records, church and lodge records, cemetery and funeral home records, military records, newspaper clippings, obituaries, old letters, maps, diaries, school, tax, voter and jury lists. In submitting Bible records, please send photocopies, including the title page and a typed copy of the record, in addition to a brief sketch about the family. The editors reserve the right to edit all material. Submitted material may be returned if requested and accompanied by a SASE, otherwise it becomes the property of the society and will be placed on file.
