Melvin has worked tirelessly to bring a railroad museum to Cleburne for over 20 years. He has served on the citizen's railroad museum advisory board for the City of Cleburne since the group’s conception.
Over the years, Melvin has researched his family genealogy extensively and is happy to share his findings with interested parties. The Johnson County Genealogical Society will meet Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. at the Cleburne Public Library, 302 W. Henderson. We are very excited to have John Wylie, President of the Texas State Genealogical Society (TSGS), speak to us about the benefits of state and national genealogical societies and national conferences. As you may know, the Federation of Genealogical Societies Conference is in San Antonio this year on August 27-30. TSGS is a local host for that conference. It’s an excellent chance to attend a national conference close to home.
John Vincent Wylie has been a full-time professional genealogist since 1990. He currently serves the Texas State Genealogical Society as President and was the 2012 State Conference Chair. From 2007 through 2009 he served the Association of Professional Genealogists as national Secretary. He is the 2004 recipient of the Dallas Genealogical Society’s Lloyd Bockstruck Distinguished Service Award.

The public is always welcome at our meetings. You do not have to be a member to attend, nor do you have to have ties to Johnson County.
