PURPOSE: The Johnson County Genealogical Society originated in 1984 from the efforts of the founders to collect as well as preserve genealogical and historical information about the people of Johnson County. Its purpose is to inform as well as aid members in genealogical research and to publish records of interest to those seeking their genealogical background.
MEETINGS: Meetings are held at the Cleburne Public Library, in Cleburne, Texas at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd Thursday of each month, except December.
COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS: The Society welcomes letters from members about its publications and activities. The address is: Johnson County Genealogical Society, P. O. Box 1256, Cleburne, TX 76033-1256.
MEMBERSHIP & DUES: Membership runs yearly from Jan 1 to Dec 31. $15.00 for an individual or $20.00 for a family membership. A year's membership includes two issues of the Finders Keepers - Spring and Fall regardless of the date joined.
ADDRESS CHANGES: When your address changes, please send new address, including 9 digit zip code, as soon as possible. The post office will not forward your quarterly. A charge of $2.50 will be made to cover the cost of address correction, returning and remailing your quarterlies.
LIBRARY: Periodicals received from other societies on an exchange basis, books and manuscripts presented to the society and books sent for review in Finders Keepers are placed in the Cleburne Public Library, 302 W. Henderson, for use by the general public, until such time as we are able to establish our own research facility.
PUBLICATIONS: A quarterly, Finders Keepers, dedicated to preserving the historical records of Johnson County, is mailed to all members, and to exchange societies.
MATERIAL FOR PUBLICATION: The society solicits unpublished Johnson County related material. Emphasis is placed on source material, such as: Bible records, Church and Lodge records, cemetery and funeral home records, Military records, newspaper clippings, obituaries, old letters, maps and diaries, school, tax, voter and jury lists. In submitting Bible records, please send photocopies, including the title page and a typed copy of the record, in addition to a brief sketch about the family. The editors reserve the right to edit all material. Submitted material may be returned if requested and accompanied by a SASE, otherwise it becomes the property of the society and will be placed on file.

Back issues of Finders Keepers are available at $4.00 per issue plus $1.00 postage and handling fee. Back issues are available from Vol. II, No. 1, February, 1985. Sample issues (current issue) are also available at the same charge.
